This is a cream white musical carousel horse by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, circa 1922. The horse has a gold bridle and harness. There are brightly colored flowers with green leaves decorating the carousel horse. The signature of Tobin Fraley appears on the underside of the horse. To further authenticate and date this piece, a horse's head symbol is incised below this signature. This mark is exclusive to this 1987 Tobin Fraley collection and was not repeated in any future Willitts Galleries limited edition collections. A specially minted brass coin displaying the American Carousel emblem is inlaid with in the base. Printed on the coin "The American Carousel by Tobin Fraley, Limited Edition of 17500".
The carousel horse mounted on an oak music box base is approximately 9½" tall to the top of the post. The horse is on a gold post 7¾" tall. The horse has an up and down motion when the music, "The Loveliest Day of the Year," is played. A paper label on the underside of the base states "Melodies, 'The Loveliest Night of the Year' Willitts Inc., P.O. 178, Petaluma, Ca. 94953; No. 5969; Made in Taiwan, Republic of China."

This carousel horse music box is a replica of one from 1912.
It plays the "Tales From the Vienna Woods" and moves up and down with the pole on an oak base.
This box is model number 5970 and it was from a limited edition of 17,500 pieces.
The music box measures 10" tall 8" wide 4" deep.

The Carousel measures 16" tall and 12" in diameter and weighs 12 pounds. The bars are made of solid brass and the middle base and top are porcelain. The bottom base is wood. It spins around while it plays the song "Somewhere in Time."

Wurlitzer 146A Band Organ, circa 1922, with M.C. Illions horse, circa 1923.
Plays “Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring” and “The Four Seasons.”
The full, rich tone of the band organs is created by a magnificent fifty-note musical movement. This precision movement contain different intricate melodies which can each be heard in succession by pressing a small button at the left side of the piece. After the first tune has been played, the next tune can be heard by pressing the button a second time.

This horse is off white. He has a light blue seat to his saddle, he has many pretty colors adorning him. His mane is being blown forward and is a reddish brown color. There are lots of nice details on this horse. You can even see each of his teeth and his tongue! He has an Angel with wings sticking out from the back of his saddle.
The carousel horse standing on the brass claw-footed base is about 7½" tall.

This is the Tobin Fraley's large Flame by M.C. Illions Number 6390.
M.C. Illions, circa 1923, carved wooden horse on an oak base.
While many companies began switching to simpler horses and carving machines as competition increased, Illions produced even more elaborate horses than before. The original of this horse is currently in the collection of Rol and Jo Summit. This horse is featured in the 1997 American Carousel Limited Edition Collection booklet, and is dated on the bottom 1996. This horse is a limited edition of 2500. It is said that this horse originally sold in the $500.00 range. The protective pvc covers the numbered coin. The underside is marked with the Willitts Designs 1986, and item number 6390.
This carousel horse measures approximately 17½ inches from head to tail and 12" from front hoof to top of mane. The pole measures 23½ inches in height including the oak base.

This piece is from Tobin Fraley's First edition of The American Carousel Collection, item number 7125. Limited edition of 4500. The horse is a Charles Looff design from about 1914.
It has a music box in the backpiece that plays two different songs; "The Blue Danube" and "Invitation to the Dance."
The full rich tone of the band organ is created by a magnificent gold plated fifty note musical movement. The band organ has a key winder on the back and a push button on the left side to start the music. The music stops at the end of the tune and you just push the button for the next tune.
It is reported that this piece originally sold for $400.00

This horse is mounted on a wooden base and backed by a large wooden Wurlitzer band organ. The band organ houses a beautiful, gold plated 50 note music box. This is an armored black jumper carousel horse bedecked in jewels. This is a large piece standing 13¼" tall and 15¼" wide.
