About a decade ago, amidst the hustle and bustle of our modern world, Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington KY wanted to recapture the magic of the golden age of the American carousel. Toward that end, Carousel Works of Mansfield OH was enlisted to design, hand carve, and hand paint 42 moving figures and 2 chariots, in the tradition of the fine immigrant cratsmen of the golden age, such as Dentzel, Muller, and the like. The result was carousel figures of incredible beauty and painstaking detail, just like old times!
To share that magic, allowing collectors to appreciate this beautiful craftsmanship, Cape Collectibles was licensed by Carousel Works to produce limited edition reproductions of these magnificent carvings. Using the same attention to detail and appreciation of the art, these sculptures were created.
There is a medallion inset on the base of each horse which reads Kentucky Horse Park Cape Collectibles, and bears a blue ribbon with the name The Carousel Works printed on the ribbon. The number of the piece is stamped into the medallion, followed by a printed “of 3000.”
It is reported that production of these carousels by Cape Collectibles ended after only 6 horses had been produced.

The whole carousel is about 8 " tall 5 " long & 3 " wide. The horse sits on a dark wood platform. The horse is about4½ to 5 " long itself & about 4 " tall & 1 " or so wide.
The colors are bright festive.
